A morning exploring the Ugandan National Museum
To start the week off right, we spent the morning exploring the Ugandan National Museum, allowing us to get a taste of their culture and traditions. The museum was founded in 1908, and is one of the oldest museums in East Africa. Focusing on the history of Uganda it mainly exhibits ethnological, natural-historical and traditional life collections piecing together their cultural heritage.
Among these collections, there is one section dedicated to Uganda’s traditional musical instruments, which was particularly of interest. The instruments were arranged by major musical groups, namely drums, percussion, wind and string instruments. This gave insight to the range of instruments that were possible to sample throughout our week in Uganda.
