Africa Atmospheres

Northern and Central Africa Sound Library - This sound library captures the rich and diverse sonic tapestry of Northern and Central Africa, offering an unparalleled auditory journey.

  • Urban recordings from the bustling streets of Tangiers, Kampala, and Jinja bring the vibrant energy of markets, cityscapes, and everyday life. Interwoven with these are serene ambiences from the banks of the majestic River Nile, immersing listeners in the gentle lapping of water and distant calls of wildlife. Forest recordings echo with birdsong and the rustle of leaves, while village scenes present a harmonious blend of voices, tools, and traditional rhythms.
  • A standout feature of this collection is its extraordinary rain and thunderstorm recordings, capturing nature's raw power and tranquillity—from the patter of raindrops on foliage to thunder rolling across vast landscapes.

This library is a versatile resource for sound designers, filmmakers, and enthusiasts seeking authentic, atmospheric sounds from this culturally and geographically rich region.

Recording the Soul of Uganda: A Journey into Sound

Uganda, a land where tradition and creativity intertwine, reveals its heart through its music. Its soundscape is rich with history, emotion, and cultural pride. We set out on a journey to capture and preserve this sonic treasure, ensuring it resonates for generations to come.

Celebrating Culture Through Sound - We partnered with Uganda’s local musicians and communities to uncover the nation's rhythm. In bustling villages and serene landscapes, the hypnotic beats of Kiganda drums and the haunting tones of the dung harp came alive. Each recording became a story, each note a glimpse into Uganda’s vibrant identity.

Bridging Tradition and Modernity - Through this project, Uganda’s sounds crossed borders. GSM acted as a bridge, connecting traditional rhythms to modern creators. These recordings became not just archives but tools for inspiration, igniting creativity and spreading appreciation for Uganda’s rich cultural heritage worldwide.
